Le rhum est une eau-de-vie originaire des Amériques, produite soit par distillation de pur jus de canne à sucre (rhum agricole) ou de mélasse (rhum traditionnel). Il est consommé blanc, vieilli en fût (rhum vieux) ou épicé; il prend alors une coloration ambrée plus ou moins foncée. Son taux d’alcool est égal ou supérieur à 40%, pour être appelé rhum celui-ci ne doit pas contenir plus de 20gr de sucre par litre d’alcool.
